Research Notes: CPR

Abstract

Before the technical description, I took a First Aid class in Borough Of Manhattan Community College. There I was certified in first aid, CPR and how to use an AED machine in the event of an emergency. It’s been more than 4 years since I took the class and so when it came time to deciding what to do with my technical description, I figured I would revisit what I knew about CPR and what techniques to use when dealing with a choking victim. Initially the original notes only contained basic CPR and talked about the use of AED equipment but the technical description only talks about CPR and choking so I had to cut out the AED part. After writing down what I knew, I looked up easy ways to remember CPR because I knew there was an acronym we had to memorize for that class. What came up was C.A.B., so I wrote that down right away and thought I should eventually mention it somewhere in the paper. After that I wrote down what I usually tried to remember first about CPR, which was “30 to 2 breaths,” and then explaining the steps in greater detail such as what to do when you get to the scene and how you can get help from the crowd in the scene . After some research, I compiled the rest of my notes on a word document and formed them into the final paper you see in the portfolio called How to Perform CPR on A Choking Victim.
